What is this project?
While interning with Dungeon Craft Media, I had the opportunity to read and review Good Society: A Jane Austen RPG, a games system written by Alex Robinson and Hayley Gordon.
I researched, wrote, and performed the script. Additionally, I edited the footage and b-roll under the oversight of my internship supervisor, Dan DeFazio.

Why a Jane Austen RPG?
Fun fact, I have an associates degree is in English Literature! Also, I’ve been a fan of Jane Austen books and adaptations since high school. This project was a fun opportunity to return to my regency romance roots.
Furthermore, the Dungeon Craft brand places an emphasis on gritty, action-focused roleplaying. By delegating the video to me, the channel could still provide a review of Good Society’s rules-system, while marking it as separate from the usual, grimdark content.
What did I learn from this project?
I discovered so much working on this project. For one thing, I found out the hard way that motioning wildly while talking results in A-roll that is almost impossible to edit. On a loftier level, this was my first experience contributing to the research process for the channel. By applying a basic knowledge of book report writing to the format of a YouTube script, I uncovered a lot about the differences between essay-writing and video-scripting.
I’ve also learned from going back and rewatching this project. The audio editing is a little obtrusive. If I could re-edit the video, I’d allow more space for the ums and pauses to breath.
