Student Leaders at TCNJ

Scroll

What is this project?

The purpose of this project was to create an updated video promoting student involvement at TCNJ. It was created to show off the work of TCNJ’s student leaders and demonstrate the benefits of staying active in college organizations.

This was the first video I ever made for an internship and I was involved in every stage. I helped brainstorm the video’s three core ideas, identified student leaders to interview, and coordinated times to record with them and film their organizations’ events. I was also responsible for editing together all the B-roll, audio files, and other footage, along with animations and color corrections.

What work am I proudest of in this project?

I’m proud of the scope of this project, given the available resources. I recorded almost all of the footage seen in this video (save for the drone footage at the beginning and Kristen’s B-roll) and did all the editing as well, using only the equipment available to rent to students. I was able to learn so much about the resources and community that my campus offers. From marching band to student rock bands to pet-rock painting, there’s an activity for everyone.

What did I learn from this project?

Working on this project, I acquired technical, interpersonal, and creative skills that I hadn’t possessed at the start. I taught myself how to use a Zoom Handy Recorder and sync audio files with video footage in Premier Pro. Likewise, I got the hang of coordinating a filming schedule and creating the space and time to collaborate. Furthermore, I learned how to sit with a project and incorporate rhythm and style into my edit. The end product is, to a certain extent, novice work. But I’m proud of what I was able to achieve over the span of a semester.
